Terms of service

The terms that govern your use of TrustTrip shared-travel services.

Terms of service — TrustTrip

These terms describe the agreement between you and TrustTrip when you create an account, publish a trip, or reserve a seat. They are written to be readable — each section states what the platform does, what members commit to, and where the detailed operational policies live.

What TrustTrip is — and is not

TrustTrip is a ridesharing platform: it connects drivers who publish trips they already plan to drive with passengers who reserve seats on those trips, with transparent cost-sharing. The platform provides trip discovery, booking, messaging, secure payment processing, and trust tooling around that exchange.

TrustTrip is not a carrier, a taxi service, an on-demand dispatch operator, or a gig-work marketplace. TrustTrip does not employ drivers, does not own the vehicles, and does not operate the trips. The transportation itself is carried out by members, between members, on itineraries they publish and accept.

Because of this role, TrustTrip's responsibility is the quality and integrity of the platform — accurate booking records, secure payments, verification workflows, and policy enforcement — not the performance of the journey itself.

Accounts and eligibility

You need an account to book a seat, publish a trip, or use member messaging. You commit to providing accurate identity and contact information and to keeping your credentials secure. One person, one account — accounts are personal and not transferable.

Drivers complete an additional onboarding with document verification before they can publish trips. Driver eligibility can be suspended or revoked if verification lapses or platform rules are breached.

Member commitments

Using TrustTrip means agreeing to a small set of non-negotiable commitments. They exist to keep shared travel workable for everyone:

  • Provide accurate account, trip, and booking information, and keep it up to date.
  • Honour confirmed bookings — cancellations and no-shows are assessed under the published cancellation policy.
  • Comply with applicable laws, including driving, insurance, and vehicle requirements for drivers.
  • Use messaging, reviews, and support channels in good faith — no harassment, spam, or off-platform payment circumvention.
  • Respect other members' personal information encountered through a trip.

Payments, fees, and refunds

Seat bookings are paid online through secure checkout. The total shown before you confirm includes the driver's published amount for your segment and the platform fee — there are no amounts collected in cash through the platform. How prices are composed is documented on the Pricing page.

Refunds are not automatic. They follow the published cancellation policy and an operations review tied to your specific booking. The Cancellation policy page describes who decides, when a review is triggered, and what to expect.

Optional memberships (subscriptions) are billed separately from trip payments, with their own terms described on the Memberships page.

Responsibility and limitation

TrustTrip works to keep the platform reliable, secure, and accurate, but cannot guarantee that every published trip will operate as planned — that depends on members. Where a trip is disrupted, the cancellation policy and refund review are the remedy framework the platform provides.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, TrustTrip's liability is limited to its role as a platform operator. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the laws that apply to you, including Canadian consumer protection rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product and applicable law evolve. When a change is material, we communicate it through documented channels (in-product notice or email) before it takes effect. Continuing to use TrustTrip after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.

Questions about these terms can be sent to support at any time.
